Support Open Access Oceans
As a 501c3 nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of individuals and organizations and are extremely grateful for your support.
We are currently fundraising to support the participation of two local Maldivians, Farah and Shameel, for our next Expedition in hopes they can both join us on board. We will focus on education sharing and provide training in our photogrammetry methods for their monitoring projects, and Farah and Shameel will certify all participants with Reef Check training. Please consider donating to this cause below.
Farah is starting the final year of her Bachelor of Environment Management course at the Maldives National University and just began her PADI Rescue diver course this summer. She recently got certified as a Reef Check Trainer.
Shameel is a co-founder of Reef Check Maldives, formed to build capacity in the Maldives by training local reef checkers around the Maldives and to conduct locally led reef checks in the Maldives. Shameel has worked with Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme and the Olive Ridley Project which works towards the conservation of sea turtles found entangled in ghost nets.
