Hydrous Bali Expedition 2019 - Trip Deposit

1,000.00

August 18-24 2019

For this year’s expedition we’ll be traveling to a beautiful island off the coast of Bali; Nusa Lembongan. We’ll be traveling with our in-house Scientist – Dr. Allison Fritts-Penniman - to study Nudibranchs in their environs. We’ll also be furthering our continued efforts around coral restoration, photogrammetry, even capturing more VR footage for our library. We can only take 10 participants on this trip, so sign up early.

Please note that deposits are non-refundable. Substitution of an approved diver MAY be possible but is not guaranteed.

We will join our dive hosts – Blue Corner Dive -  for a week of diving and science. This will be a land-based trip, so each day we’ll head out for up to 3 dives aboard their boats. They have been selected by The Hydrous because of their ongoing conservation focus and work with the dive community. Blue Corner Dive has established an ongoing coral reef health monitoring program at several of the dive sites in the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area.  We will assist them with their ongoing monitoring efforts for the Marine Park and Coral Triangle Centre. Andrew, their resident marine biologist will lead us in helping with coral restoration and propagation.

Our home for the week is the lovely Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan - situated beautifully on the largest white sand beach on the island - and providing a most conducive spot for you to take a break from our diving and research days. It’s an amazing beach resort with 2 magnificent swimming pools and a spacious sun deck. It’s located right in the heart of all the activity yet tucked away in a private oasis of luxury and comfort. All of their rooms have their own charm and character to allure you into a divine and luxurious holiday, another world away.

GETTING THERE
Flights – there are many flight options – but most seem to take at least 20+ hours to get to Bali. Once arriving at Denpasar airport, you’ll need to cab/shuttle over to a boat for a quick 30min ride to the island. Details to follow on that. We STRONGLY suggest that you arrive at least a day ahead of time to decompress and relax – flying can be exhausting.
