USS Arizona in 3D

Sly has the honor of taking part in a photogrammetry project on Pearl Harbor this week, in collaboration with the A-team: Valor National Park, AutoDesk, HDR Inc., and Dennis Hirota. This project will employ LIDAR, SONAR, Geo-referencing technology, and underwater photo surveys of the iconic USS Arizona to produce a super fine resolution 3D model of the USS Arizona for long term monitoring and educational materials. Our team tested our equipment today on the USS Utah, a battleship that was sunk by Japanese torpedoes on the morning of December 7, 1941, taking 64 crew members with her. We used today to hone our photographing techniques for our work on the USS Arizona tomorrow.
